Shropshire and Herefordshire Team Overview

The competetive season is from May - September. We compete in the Midland League against Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Matches are played home and away in rotation - if the first team is playing at home, then the second team will be away ( and vice versa ). We also compete in the England Golf County Championship - qualifying is via the Midland Group against 9 other counties.

Before the season starts we have a " Get Together ". Current and new players  who are interested in playing County Golf are invited so they can get an update on the forthcoming season. We are always looking for new players who would like to get involved so we can increase our regular pool of players for county matches. We are targeting a squad of around 30 for our Midland League first and second team matches . We are interested to hear from players with a handicap of four or less to get in touch. Players are selected for the First and Second team based on performances in National, Regional, County and Club events.

Those of us who are associated with county golf are extremely privileged and proud to be responsible for promoting elite amateur golf on behalf of the golfers of Shropshire and Herefordshire. We expect this pride to be evident in anyone privileged enough to play for their county. We expect everybody to abide by the rules of golf and golfing etiquette. We believe in creating an environment that is fun, team based, competetive and one that delivers results.
